Children coded for a safer Internet at the fourth Future Kids Hackathon

Belgrade, June 16, 2026 – This year, Yettel supported the Future Kids Hackathon, a programming and robotics competition for children aged 8 to 13, bringing together more than 230 young programmers from Serbia and across the region. Last weekend, at the Šumice Sports Center in Belgrade, more than 230 participants worked on the theme "Mission: Safe Click", developing technological solutions for safer internet use and demonstrating how digital skills can be applied to solving real-world challenges.

Using a variety of programming languages and tools - including Scratch, App Inventor, Python, and Unity 3D, as well as hardware platforms such as mBot and LEGO robots, the children created educational games, animations, and applications designed to tackle online safety issues.

"It is important to us to introduce children to technology in a way that encourages creativity while also teaching them how to navigate the digital world safely and responsibly. The Future Kids Hackathon is a great example of how hands-on learning can strengthen digital skills and empower children to become confident and responsible users of technology," said Milica Begenišić, ESG Manager at Yettel.

Beyond the competition, participants enjoyed a variety of activities, including taking photos with an interactive robot, playing retro video game consoles, and enjoying a picnic in the park.

Through initiatives like this, Yettel continues to promote digital literacy and help create a safer digital environment for future generations.
