Yettel enables free internet for the “SOS for Deaf People” application

Belgrade, 1. December - In cooperation with the Office for IT and eGovernment, at the initiative of the Prime Minister’s Office, the application “SOS for Deaf People” was launched, with the aim of enabling communication via video calls to deaf people. With the help of this application, a deaf person will have the option to start a video call with an interpreter from the National Interpretation Centre for Serbian Sign Language, who will dial the desired phone number and translate the conversation between the deaf person and the dialled contact simultaneously.

Yettel has supported this initiative by providing free internet use for this application to all Yettel customers. In an effort to facilitate a solution to communication problems that deaf and hard-of-hearing people encounter, in 2016, our company launched an application for learning and understanding the Serbian and International Sign language. This project was established with the aim of enabling the deaf and hard-of-hearing community easier access to digital communications, and the support for the “SOS for Deaf People” action is a continuation of our previous initiative.

The use of the “SOS for Deaf People” application is free of charge and the application is available on both the mobile (Android and iOS) and web version.
