Yettel Foundation presented the awards “Prof. dr Ilija Stojanović” to the best students

 
Belgrade, December 26, 2025 - At the ceremony held in the Science Palace, for the sixteenth time Yettel Foundation has presented the “Prof. dr Ilija Stojanović” award to the best students and authors of scientific papers in the area of telecommunications.

The winners in the category the Best graduate student in 2024/2025 school year are:
• Luka Mitrović, student of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the University of Belgrade,
• Katarina Lukić, student of the Faculty of Technical Sciences of the Novi Sad University
• Mihajlo Pešić, student from the Faculty of Electronics of the Niš University. 

In the category of awarded student papers at the Conference TELFOR 2025, the awarded are Andreja Maksimović and Vladimir Ignjatijević, students of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the University of Belgrade, for the paper entitled: An Arduino UNO-based Open Hardware Gain-Adjustable Optical Power Meter.

The work Information Theory, Living Systems, and Communication Engineering by prof. dr Dragana Bajić from the Faculty of Technical Sciences of the Novi Sad University, published in a renowned scientific magazine, was proclaimed the best scientific paper.

“The award that bears the name of Ilija Stojanović, represents the acknowledgement to young people who already today show the knowledge, dedication and potential to shape the future of telecommunications and digital society. We believe that students of Electrical Engineering Faculties are the key exponents of digital transformation. That’s why we are inviting them to join us through our “Kickstart” program of paid internship and start their professional specialisation working on concrete projects”, said Tomislav Petrović, Director of Access Network Department.

This traditional award was established by Yettel (formerly Telenor) Foundation in 2007, in the honour of the Academician Professor Dr Ilija Stojanović, one of the founders of telecommunications in Serbia and founder of the Telecommunications Department at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Belgrade. Professor Stojanović conveyed his knowledge to numerous experienced telecommunication engineers of today, whose achievements remind us how crucial are science and innovations are for the advancement of the industry.
