Donation to the Institute for Mother and Child "Dr Vukan Čupić"

Belgrade, October 24, 2025 - The Yettel Foundation has donated funds for the procurement of 30 specialized water heaters to prevent the potential spread of bacterial infections at the Institute for Mother and Child "Dr Vukan Čupić."

The Serbian Institute for Mother and Child “Dr Vukan Čupić” in New Belgrade is the largest pediatric healthcare institution in the country, with 400 hospital beds and around 1,000 employees. The Institute recently experienced an outbreak of Legionella bacteria, which can cause serious lung infections. This prompted the strengthening of protective measures and the implementation of preventive actions to avoid similar incidents in the future.

“Thanks to this donation, we have installed new water heaters that significantly improve hygiene standards in our hospital and further protect our patients from potential infections, including Legionella bacteria. This support directly contributes to the safety and health of our children,” said Acting Director of the Institute, Prof. Dr. Vladislav Vukomanović.

Each year, the Institute performs approximately 220,000 examinations, hospitalizes around 22,000 children, with about 18,000 of them staying for longer treatment, while doctors perform around 8,000 surgeries and medical procedures. With this donation, the Yettel Foundation aims to help improve conditions for the youngest patients at the Institute, ensuring their safer and faster recovery.
